Thank you for seeking advice and assistance from xxxx Advice Centre. The Advice Centre provides free and independent legal advice to people who live or work in xxx City. We provide general advice and assistance on welfare benefits, education, debt, consumer rights, housing, family matters, employment, health and legal proceedings, and a specialist casework service in employment, housing, immigration and welfare benefits.
The General Help service covers “one off” pieces of legal advice and help which can normally be concluded in a single interview. This includes, for example, the following kinds of help:
At the General Help service, we cannot take on a case for you or provide you with representation. If you need someone to take on your case and/or to represent you at a court or tribunal, we will give you details of other legal advice services or refer you to our own casework service, depending on the area of law.
When you first see an adviser, we will tell you what help we are able to provide including any limits on our service. At the end of the first interview, the adviser will tell you about any action you should take in order to resolve your problem.. If the adviser thinks you may need to contact us again then she or he will tell you when and how to do this and who to ask for. If we cannot give any further help, then the adviser will give you details of other agencies which may be able to help you.
All information given to xxx Advice Centre is treated in the strictest confidence and will not be disclosed to any third party without your permission unless the xxx Advice Centre is under a statutory obligation to do so.
We are constantly seeking opportunities to improve our services and we welcome any suggestions for improvements. If you have not been satisfied with the service you have received from us, please ask the receptionist for our complaints leaflet.
