The Advice Services Alliance was delighted to hear that the Advice Quality Standard (AQS) has today (7th April 2014) been awarded full accreditation by the Money Advice Service (MAS) against their quality framework. The Money Advice Framework forms part of the MAS work to raise the levels and consistency of quality for clients seeking debt advice and the acheivement of AQS accreditation was very much welcomed by all at the ASA.
In order to achieve MAS accreditation, the AQS was put through a rigourous process. All the standards and membership codes put forward for accreidtation were independently assessed and were required to provide evidence that they had quality measures which focused on:
– ensuring client needs are understood and met, – having strong governance arrangements in place, – reviewing, learning and adapting where required, the services that they provide to clients.
It is expected that a list of all debt advice organisations holding one of the Money Advice Service accredited quality standards or membership codes will be published later in the spring on the MAS website.
This accreditation is particularly important as in the future, the Money Advice Service will only fund services that hold an accredited quality standard or membership code. We are very pleased that AQS holders will qualify under this scheme.
